Virginia EMTs Claim County Paid Them Like 7k Firefighters

Twelve current and former members of the Page County Fire & EMS have filed a class action lawsuit claiming they were not compensated for all of the hours they worked, and not paid overtime as required by the FLSA. The suit alleges the plaintiffs are non-fire EMS personnel who the county treated as §207k qualifying firefighters.

Judge Rules WV City Miscalculated Firefighters’ Compensation

A West Virginia court has ruled that the City of Parkersburg violated the state’s Wage Payment Collection Act in the way it calculated the pay of firefighters. The suit was filed by Chief Fire Inspector Wayne White, who claimed he was being retaliated against and obstructed in carrying out his duties.

Firefighter Sues Fire District And Union Over Terminal Leave Benefit

A firefighter with the Eastchester Fire District who retired last year, has filed suit against the district and Eastchester Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 916 claiming both are responsible for depriving him of a terminal leave benefit that would have given him two additional months of pay. Kevin Stewart filed suit in US District Court alleging a violation of the NLRA.
