The Virginia Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a firefighter on criminal charges of the unauthorized use of a vehicle because he drove a fire truck that he was not authorized to drive, to an emergency. Charles Raymond Arrington was convicted of violating VA Code § 18.2-102 over an incident that occurred on March 11, 2020.

A former junior firefighter with the Strinestown Community Fire Department has been charged with stealing one of the department’s fire trucks and taking it for a joyride last Sunday. The youth was observed on surveillance video using a stolen Ford Explorer to push in an overhead door to access the fire station.

A 24 year old female firefighter is accused of taking a fire truck on a joy ride last Saturday evening, something she may have even gotten away with had she not started talking on the radio. Chelsea Matthew is facing charges of driving under the influence after taking a Lincoln-Ottawa-Harrison Fire District brush unit for a ride without permission.
