Iowa Firefighter Hurt in Apparatus Crash Suing Civilian Driver and Vehicle Owner
An Iowa firefighter who was seriously injured in an apparatus accident in 2022, has filed suit against the driver and owner of a piece of farm equipment. Matthew Fisher, a firefighter with the Durant Fire Department, filed suit earlier this year naming Kent Reimers, Liqui-Grow Trioak, L. L. C., Liqui-Grow of Traer, L. C., Twin State, Inc., and Employers Mutual Casualty Company as defendants.
The suit was filed earlier this year in Muscatine County District Court. Reimers, who was driving the farm equipment called a “field sprayer”, pled guilty to operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury. A Gofundme campaign was established for Fisher.
According to QuadCities.com, the accident occurred on May 2, 2022 when the Durant fire Department was responding. The Freightliner engine was totaled in the accident. A copy of the complaint is not available. More on the story.
