Federal Court Approves Brookline FLSA Settlement with Firefighters

The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts has approved a settlement agreement between 118 Brookline firefighters and the Town of Brookline, resolving allegations that the town violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Massachusetts Wage Act by miscalculating overtime pay.

Colorado Firefighters File Class Action FLSA Suit

Three Colorado firefighters have filed a class action lawsuit claiming their department has refused to pay them overtime in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Hunter Richardson, Alec Coscarella, and Jennifer Anderson filed suit today against the Rye Fire Protection District.

Massachusetts Fire Department Settles FLSA Lawsuit for $101k

The Town of Brookline has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit that alleged that firefighter overtime was not being paid in accordance with the FLSA. The federal lawsuit was filed last year by two fire lieutenants, Brian Bergeron and Paul Trahon, who also happened to be union officers for IAFF Local 950.

Four Florida firefighters have filed suit claiming their department required them to attend job-related training and failed to compensate them for the time. David Garner, Brian Ostos, Alejandro Osorio, and Joseph Quinn filed suit this week in US District Court for the Northern District of Florida naming the Destin Fire Control District.

A Rhode Island firefighter has filed a class action lawsuit alleging that a local fire district violated the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and after being found to be in violation by the US Department of Labor, persisted in refusing to pay back wages owed. James Almagno filed suit today in US District Court naming the Central Coventry Fire District.
