Nevada Firefighter Sued Over Altercation With Woman

A woman who was injured in an altercation with a Sparks firefighter has filed suit alleging battery and excessive force. Maureen Hvegholm filed suit against Timothy Egan in Washoe County District Court. The incident occurred last December and was captured on surveillance video.

Off-Duty Assault Leads to Suit Against SFFD

A San Francisco firefighter who claims he was assaulted by a colleague while both were off-duty, has filed suit against the other firefighter, the city, the fire chief, two other chief officers, and two company officers. Gabriel Shin filed suit earlier this year alleging battery, assault, race discrimination, disability discrimination, retaliation and several related counts.

Termination of RI Firefighter Upheld

A Rhode Island firefighter who was terminated after exhausting his accrued sick leave, has lost his federal court lawsuit alleging breach of contract, whistleblower violations, and a violation of his First Amendment rights. Fred Melnyk was a firefighter for the Town of Little Compton prior to his termination in 2019.

Dallas Firefighter Terminated For Kicking Homeless Man

A Dallas firefighter accused of kicking a homeless man he suspected of setting fires has been terminated. Firefighter Brad Cox was placed on administrative leave following release of a police body-cam video showing him kicking Kyle Vess in 2019. The video surfaced earlier this year.
