State Farm Insurance and several homeowners have filed suit against the State of California and the City of Fairfield following a wildland fire last August that destroyed 5 homes.
The Marigold Fire occurred on August 27, 2013 when a fire start started along side I80 was blown by 15 mile per hour winds into overgrown grass and weeds and on up to a neighborhood on Marigold Drive. It went to seven alarms.
The suit claims the city and state failed to properly mitigate the hazardous conditions along a drainage easement that allowed the fire to spread. The plaintiffs are seeking seeking in excess of $500,000.
