A Kentucky firefighter has been placed on administrative leave as his fire department investigates a social media post containing a photo of him hanging out of a moving car window while wearing a department shirt. The Clay City Fire Department reportedly became aware of the incident by a Facebook post.
A concerned citizen took the photo and shared it online, explaining that the male passenger hung out of the passenger-side window of a Cadillac for nearly 2 miles until the vehicle nearly collided with another vehicle. WAVE quoted Powell County Judge-Executive Eddie Barnes, as saying:
- He could’ve lost balance, fell out of the car, and according to the witness, they were at a high rate of speed.
- It could’ve caused somebody else to wreck by coming up on it and seeing somebody hanging out of the window driver’s attention.
- They can run off the road, or they could’ve hit head-on or anything like that.
