Sacramento Firefighter Faces Jail Time and Civil Suit For Fondling Patient

A Sacramento firefighter who was convicted of assault and sexual battery for fondling the breasts of an unresponsive 19-year-old female patient he was transporting, is now facing up to three years in prison and a civil suit brought by the victim. Jared Evans was convicted last week by a Sacramento County jury. On Thursday, he resigned from the Sacramento Fire Department.

The incident occurred on April 1, 2017 while Evans was attending to a seizure patient. She is now suing the City of Sacramento, Evans and Chad Morris, who was a paramedic intern at the time. Morris was the one who reported Evans which in turn led to the criminal charges.

According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, Evans will also have to register as a sex offender.
