Miami-Dade Resignations Follow Fatal Training Exercise

Three members of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue have resigned as the investigation continues into the deadly training exercise that claimed the life of non-firefighter.  Public Safety Chief James Reyes told NBC Miami that Franciso A. Camero, Steven Colon and Rafael Fernandez resigned on October 30, 2024.

The training exercise took place on June 21, 2024, and claimed the life of Camero’s son, Fabian Camero. He was 28 at the time and worked as an EMT for American Medical Response. The training included a group of firefighters from Saudi Arabia, but according to Chief Reyes it was not authorized.
