Foreclosure Sale Leaves PA Fire Company On The Hook

A volunteer fire department in Pennsylvania is being sued by a bank following the repossession and sale of its ladder truck.

Commercial Bank & Trust of Pennsylvania filed suit against the West Newton Volunteer Fire Company Inc. in Westmoreland County Court seeking $27,480.

According to news reports the fire company defaulted on a $55,000 loan back in 2007. For reasons that are unexplained the bank did not repossess the 1981 Seagraves 100 foot aerial ladder until last August. The truck had reportedly been out of service for repairs that the fire company deemed too expensive.

According to the lawsuit, the bank cleared just $4,975 from the sale, leaving the fire company on the hook for $24,980 plus $2,500 in attorneys fees.
