There were a number of stories this past week that slipped by. Here are two, one from FDNY and one from DC:
FDNY EMT David Taranto is accused of inappropriately touching a woman who was shaken up in a vehicle accident. Allegedly once the patient was in the ambulance, Taranto took his stethoscope, placed it underneath her shirt, and cupped her breast in his hand. He stayed with her in the ER for 3 hours, and took her cell phone, calling his own number with it to obtain her phone number. Over the next few days, he called her, sent her texts, and invited her to his house. She contacted authorities when the contact continued.
DC Fire & EMS came under criticism over its new policy toward pregnant personnel. In the past, pregnant employees were permitted to be reassigned to desk duty for up to 180 days. The new policy limits desk duty to 30 days, at which time employees must use vacation or sick leave.

1st. The FDNY EMT obviously needs to go and do some other type career. He should be brought up on Formal Charges.
2nd DFCD. What’s up with them? Why the change?
remember that the “New” Current Chief wants to change “DCFD” to “DCFEMS” and in an earlier term several years ago wanted to give out “Official” DCFD Pajamas.
Get some “Reality” there.
I dunno, something doesn’t smell right. I’ve got a hard time believing FDNY Communications would have an ambulance drop off the face of the earth for 3 hours and not notice. Where was the guy’s partner while he was playing Florence Nightengale in the ER?
I’m not saying it didn’t happen, there’s just something missing here.
CBEMT
There are guys out there who are pros at dodging runs… 3 hours would not be a stretch for these characters. It is outrageous, I am in no way condoning it – its gives us all a bad name – but it happens.
